What I Want To See From Occupy Wall Street

Today I saw a youtube video by Peter Schiff which irked me a bit. He was at Occupy Wall Street (OWS) questioning some protesters. He was there for more than 3 hours and only 18 minutes of edited footage was released. Now obviously there is a good chance he just used the “best” footage he had. I mean, how bad would he look if he lost an argument to a “99%” er?
But besides that, here is my main point. The following is my official message to OWS (and anybody that wants to embrace it). I would hope that they make that following their main demands and message.
1) ”GET MONEY OUT OF POLITICS”
We have crony capitalism (or corporatism) because the people in Washington are BOUGHT. Lets reform our system, pass a constitutional amendment (banning money from politics), and clean out elections. That’s the only issue here, everything else is secondary and will take care of itself . Only if this is accomplished, can we progress forward and have a TRUE and HONEST debate about what we need to do to get the economy “going again”. Please read my post in my personal blog on this subject (which goes in to greater detail).
2) “EMBRACE CAPATALISM”
I don’t want to hear socialist nonsense. I don’t want to hear anarchist nonsense. I also don’t want to hear any “get rid of government” nonsense. I know that is only a minority of people there, but let us try to clean it out. And the only way to do that is so adopt the “We Embrace Capitalism” slogan. Capitalism is the BEST system out there ever created for mankind. It fits our DNA (be greedy, evolve, etc). I know its not perfect, but that’s where the government comes in (regulation, taxes, etc). BUT we cannot have proper/good government if money is still in politics. Imagine a basketball team, “X”, who hired their own referee to ref the game. Imagine if the ref knew he wouldn’t get hired next time if he didn’t “sway” the calls towards team “X”. Guess what happens? Yes you guessed right, the game is rigged, and he gets hired next time. Same thing is happening with government (the referee) and the corporations (the team). I want smart government (not smaller, not bigger) and clean capitalism.
In my opinion, these 2 issues are non-partisan. Nobody likes a rigged game, and everyone (majority) loves capitalism. Let’s do it. Let’s get America back on track and really see what this country can do.
